July 24th - Pioneer Day

For many Utahns, Pioneer day is a special holiday to celebrate the arrival of many who came to the Salt Lake Valley back in 1847. Each year on July 24th, starting in 1849, many gather to commemorate Utah’s history and enjoy the festivities.

To celebrate this Utah holiday, there are a lot great activities and events taking place across Utah for the entire family to enjoy. One fun activity for families is to hike the Original Pioneer Trail Hike where people of all ages can walk the original Pioneer Trail in East Canyon.

Tour the Utah Pioneers Museum (admission is free) and view the largest collection of pioneer memorabilia or take a visit the graves of the early Utah pioneers at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Be sure to look for graves with the “Faith in Every Footsteps” badge to confirm they are an original pioneer.

For a full list of activities go to the Enjoy Utah website or Days of 47.
